AGR Renewables has officially acquired two renewable energy projects from Cambridge Power, strengthening its position in the UK’s clean energy transition. The acquisition includes:

  • A co-located solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) comprising 70MWp of solar capacity and a 50MW battery system.
  • A standalone 50MW battery energy storage site located near Eaton Socon, Bedfordshire.

Once operational, the solar installation will contribute up to 49.9MW of renewable electricity to the grid, while the combined battery systems will provide 100MWh of grid balancing capacity, enhancing national grid stability. Planning approval for the standalone BESS was granted in 2023, with the solar scheme approved in early 2025. Construction is expected to commence in Q3 2025.

Beyond clean energy generation, the project promises measurable environmental impact: over 100% net biodiversity gain from the solar installation and a 71% gain from the co-located battery storage. These outcomes underscore AGR’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure.

Additionally, the project is anticipated to boost the local economy through job creation and regional support during its development and operational phases.

“The acquisition of Eaton Socon marks a significant milestone in AGR’s growth story. The assets complement AGR’s existing pipeline and further consolidate the company’s position as one of the fastest growing renewable energy developers in the country.”

– Oliver Breidt, Founder of AGR Renewables

AGR Renewables is advancing toward its 2026 target of deploying 500MW of operational solar and 1GW of BESS assets – and is part of our market-leading renewables.digital UK renewable energy investors list.
