ENGIE Deutschland AG has acquired a ready-to-build onshore wind park with a planned total capacity of 212 megawatts in Bad Berleburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Dortmund. The project comprises 32 wind turbines and was developed by the Paderborn-based WestfalenWIND Group, with construction already underway. Following full commissioning by 2027, the wind park will generate approximately 500,000 megawatt-hours of green electricity annually, sufficient to supply around 142,000 households. The transaction includes project rights for additional sites currently in development, nearly doubling ENGIE’s wind capacity in Germany. The acquisition is a clear sign that ENGIE sees the German market as being of strategic importance for its business development.

Anne Bosser, Member of the Executive Board for Renewable Energies at ENGIE Deutschland AG, explains:

“We are delighted to be taking over the Bad Berleburg projects from WestfalenWIND, an experienced developer, and to continue the fruitful local cooperation within the framework of these projects. The acquisition is a significant milestone for ENGIE and will nearly double our wind capacity in Germany, underscoring our growth ambitions in this market. We are determined to expand our presence through repowering projects, greenfield developments and targeted acquisitions in order to actively drive forward the energy transition in Germany.”
