A new solar farm, the Kingfisher Solar Farm, is planned for East Yorkshire to provide clean, renewable energy.
Located three miles north of Beverley and east of the A164, the project is being proposed by Ørsted, a global leader in renewable energy projects. With a capacity of 320 MW, the farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2030 and supply green energy for up to 100,000 UK households for six decades.
An initial consultation period runs from February 3rd to March 9th, 2025. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to provide feedback online or attend public events to discuss the project with the Ørsted team. Randall Linfoot, Ørsted’s programme manager, highlighted the community benefits of the project, including increased wildlife habitat areas, a community benefit fund, and opportunities for local businesses in the supply chain. The farm will connect to the national grid via the existing cable route for Hornsea 4 Offshore Wind Farm.
