The Finnish renewables group have declared their interest in exploiting the potential offshore wind possibilities in the north of Aland. Aland is an autonomous region of Finland that has developed a marine spatial plan termed ‘Project Sunnanvind’ which has identified 1000 square km that would be suitable for offshore wind development. Ilmatar hopes for future plans to be operational by 2030 and could power the Alandic, Finnish and Swedish areas.
