DRI, the EU renewables arm of DTEK, has announced plans to develop the Ljubovo onshore wind farm in Lika-Senj County, central Croatia. This marks the company’s third renewable energy project in Croatia and second wind farm in the country. With a planned capacity of 120 MW and an estimated annual production of 349 GWh, the Ljubovo wind farm will play a significant role in Croatia’s energy transition. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
The project received preliminary grid access approval from HOPS, Croatia’s national Transmission System Operator, in November 2024 and has filed for energy approval with the Ministry of Economy. Ivan Geliukh, CEO of DRI, emphasized the company’s commitment to Croatia’s clean energy goals and its expertise in engineering and construction.
In addition to the Ljubovo wind farm, DRI is advancing the Brda Umovi wind farm and Vedrine solar park in Split, Dalmatia County. The dual-phase Brda Umovi project will generate 127.5 MW in the first phase and 28.8 MW in the second, with grid connection expected in late 2026. The Vedrine solar park, with an installed capacity of 60 MWp, is set to supply energy by the second half of 2027. Both projects will connect to the national grid via a new 10 km 110 kV line built by DRI.
DRI is actively pursuing long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) and exploring participation in Croatia’s Contract for Difference scheme. Across its priority markets, DRI now manages a portfolio of 1.4 GW of operating, under-construction, and development-stage projects.
