MET Group, an integrated energy company headquartered in Switzerland, has officially commissioned its first solar park in Germany, located in Kentzlin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The facility, with an installed capacity of 11.5 MWp, is now feeding electricity into the German grid and is expected to generate approximately 13 GWh annually—enough to power around 3,600 German households each year.
The project marks a significant milestone in MET Group’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The company acquired the project in 2023 in its development phase, subsequently completing the permitting and development process, securing a contract award in Germany’s EEG auction, and overseeing construction to on-time completion. Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services were provided by German solar solutions provider IBC SOLAR.
According to Christian Hürlimann, CEO of Renewables Development at MET Group, the Kentzlin project strengthens MET’s presence in the competitive German renewables market and lays a foundation for further investment in Western Europe. The initiative also aligns with MET Group’s broader European strategy, complementing its existing activities in Germany’s gas and electricity markets, including gas storage, LNG imports, and supply to industrial and residential customers.
