Plenitude, a company controlled by Eni, has officially started construction on the La Flota photovoltaic plant, a 90 MW solar project located in the municipality of Fortuna, in Spain’s Region of Murcia. The groundbreaking ceremony, held with the presence of local government representatives, marks another step in Plenitude’s growing renewable energy portfolio in the country. Spanning approximately 120 hectares, La Flota will be equipped with around 150,000 bifacial solar modules and solar tracking structures, enabling it to generate more than 185 GWh of electricity annually once operational in 2025. The plant will be connected to the distribution grid through a 6 km underground 30 kV line and a 30/132 kV substation. Construction will be led by Negratin, a prominent Spanish contractor in the renewable sector, in collaboration with local and international partners. The site itself will operate on renewable power via an on-site solar-plus-storage system. Plenitude also announced subsidiary projects in the same region: the construction of three 200 kW rooftop solar installations on public buildings for exclusive community use. Additionally, the company will implement biodiversity conservation measures, such as bug hotels, nesting boxes, and habitat management for local species including birds of prey and amphibians. This deal underlines again that Plentitude is one of the largest solar park developers in Europe.
