List of 3 large PV-Installers in the Netherlands
The Netherlands, a country with a long tradition of windmill technology, is now turning its attention to a new source of renewable energy: the sun. Solar Power is becoming an increasingly prominent component of the country’s energy portfolio. The Netherlands is one of the world’s leading countries when it comes to developing and applying solar energy and solar cells. Furthermore, the Netherlands has the highest number of solar panels per person. More than one-third of Dutch homes have solar panels installed. This puts local PV installers in a unique position. By 2035, the country’s solar PV capacity could rise to 55,000 MW. In the following we will present three large PV-Installers in the Netherlands.
1. Solar NRG (Poeldjik)
Solar NRG, based in Poeldijk, is an expert solar installer in the Netherlands. The company stands out by offering a wide portfolio of services tailored to meet the needs of all clients. The services include residential installations, commercial projects, industrial power solutions, and continuous maintenance and monitoring to ensure their solar systems perform optimally. NRG’s impressive portfolio includes residential and commercial rooftop installations, extensive ground-mounted systems, and solar carports. An example project is ABC Westland in Poeldijk, initiated between 2016 and 2018, featuring the installation of 18,274 photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 4.75 MWp. NRG focuses primarily on the Dutch solar market, but adopts a comprehensive approach, emphasizing sustainability in all aspects of its operations. Since March 2024, alongside solar installations, Solar NRG is also an installer and supplier of heat pumps and air conditioning systems.
2. Soly (Groningen)
Soly is an international clean energy technology company, headquartered in Groningen, that was founded in 2013 by brothers Milan and Patrick van der Meulen. Since its foundation Soly has grown from a Dutch start-up to become one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of decentralised energy generation and storage. Focusing on both residential and commercial clients, the company offers integrated solutions including solar panels, home batteries, EV charging stations, and digital energy management. Operating in six countries across Europe and Africa. Soly has been a certified B Corp since 2018, underlining its commitment to high standards of sustainability, transparency, and social impact.
3. Zonneplan (Zwolle)
Zonneplan is a leading Dutch residential solar specialist headquartered in Zwolle. Since its foundation in 2012, the company has installed rooftop PV systems in more than 150,000 homes, establishing itself as a major player in the Dutch market. Zonneplan has evolved from an installation company to become an integrated energy provider. It offers dynamic electricity contracts that are managed via the Zonneplan app and Zonneplan Connect smart meter, as well as complementary solutions such as EV charging. Their 560 solar planners are working to electrify the Netherlands.
