onshore and offshore developers australia

List of 3 large wind park developers in Australia

Australia’s energy transition is in full swing. In addition to solar and hydroelectric power, Australia is focusing on wind energy as part of its renewable energy expansion. By the end of 2024, the country installed around 13.3 GW of installed wind capacity. More than 13% of the country’s electricity was therefore generated from wind power. The country’s large coastal areas are ideal for efficient onshore and offshore wind farms. The further development of these new farms will play an important role in the country’s energy transition. Here we present three major Australian wind farm developers

1. Renewable Energy Partners Pty Ltd  (Brisbane, Queensland)

The 100% Australian-owned and operated Brisbane-based company focuses on the origination and early-stage development of large-scale renewable energy projects in Australia. Its portfolio includes 1,800 MW of solar, over 1,200 MW of hydro and 5,400 MW of wind projects. One of these wind farms is the Proserpine Wind Farm, a 900MW wind farm located in North Queensland. It is one of the largest wind farms in Australia in terms of capacity..

2. Wind Prospect (Melbourne, Victoria)

The Melbourne-based company has been active in the renewable energy sector for over 25 years, making it one of the most experienced renewable energy project developers in the country. To date, the company has 7 wind farms with more than 820 wind turbines installed or under active development. A further 22 wind farms have planning permission. One of them is the Willatook wind farm located in South West Victoria.

3. Oceanex Energy (Melbourne, Victoria)

Alongside onshore wind, offshore wind is playing an increasingly important role in Australia’s energy mix. Oceanex Energy is developing and constructing 2 offshore wind farms off the coast of Australia that will provide large-scale, clean and reliable electricity. Oceanex Energy is also in the early stages of developing up to 3 projects off the coast of New Zealand. The Australian Novovastrian wind farm is located 20km off the coast of Newcastle. The second Australian offshore project is located off the coast of Bunbury.
