List of 3 large solar park developers in Australia
Australia is in the midst of an energy transition. Known as a major consumer of coal, Australia’s energy supply is shifting towards renewable energy sources. Since the turn of the millennium, Australia’s coal use has fallen from 80% to less than 50%. Solar energy in particular, is playing an important role in this transformation. By 2023, solar power has overtaken gas and became Australia’s second-largest source of electricity. Here we present three of the most prominent solar developers shaping the future of clean energy in Australia.
1. Edify Energy Pty Ltd (Sydney, New South Wales)
Based in Sydney, the company is one of Australia’s leading renewable energy development and storage investment companies. It focuses on the development of solar farms, energy storage projects and power stations. Its current portfolio includes 10 solar farms across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales. Their efforts are reflected in their business locations. Edify Energy has offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville.
2. Atmos Renewables (Sydney, New South Wales)
Atmos Renewables is another leading Australian renewable energy company based in Sydney. With a portfolio of over 1.8GW of operating wind and solar assets, the company is a major player in the Australian renewable energy sector. It has a further 3GW of wind, solar and battery projects in its development pipeline and six of its 16 assets are solar farms spread across Queensland and Victoria.
3. Potentia Energy (Sydney, New South Wales)
Potentia Energy, a joint venture between Enel Green Power and INPEX, is also part of the Sydney-based industry network. To date, Potentia Energy has a renewable energy portfolio of nearly 900 MW, but has a huge development pipeline of more than 8 GW across all technology types and jurisdictions, including 4 solar parks.
The leading solar energy developers in Australia
There are also project developers in Australia who focus on developing solar parks. Project developers are experts in the field, starting with site analyses, through design and then the project planning of plants. They work closely with renewable energy investors who invest in/buy these plants. Our list is the most extensive database of Australian solar energy developers. Our database is a part of our list of the largest renewable energy developers from Australia, which also includes developers of Wind Energy, Hydrogen, Hydro and Energy Storage projects.
