A curated overview of France’s leading solar PV installers, spanning national utility groups, large EPC and asset developers, and established regional specialists. Compiled and regularly updated by the Renewables.Digital Research Team.
Solar energy now accounts for a growing share of France’s electricity mix, with installed PV capacity surpassing 25 GW and continuing to expand across residential, commercial, and utility-scale segments. Behind that growth sits an installer market shaped at the top by a national utility group and by large EPC-style developers with multi-gigawatt portfolios, and further down by regional specialists that have built decades of RGE-certified track record on rooftop and ground-mounted projects. This article presents a curated Top 10 of PV Installers in France, selected for overall scale, installed capacity, and significance within the French solar market.
The full research dataset, including verified contact information, LinkedIn profiles, certification status, and installed capacity figures for all 200+ companies, is available exclusively through the Renewables.Digital Research Platform.
Sorted by installed capacity. One entry with an anomalous capacity figure in the source data was excluded from this ranking as it could not be verified against the company’s actual scale. Management names and precise revenue figures are intentionally excluded from this overview.

France’s PV installer market is defined at the top by a national utility group operating at a scale far beyond any other player, followed by a tier of large EPC and asset development companies each managing gigawatt-scale portfolios. The companies in this curated selection span that full range, from a global energy leader to established regional installers with strong RGE-certified track records in the south and southwest of the country.
EDF Renewables, the renewable energy arm of French utility giant EDF, operates a solar portfolio that dwarfs every other name on this list, reflecting its role as one of the largest renewable energy operators in Europe. Urbasolar, headquartered in Montpellier since 2006, has built a comparably large portfolio through decades of ground-mounted and rooftop project development across France and internationally.
Arkolia Energies, Voltalia, and GenSun represent the next tier of large-scale developers, each managing project portfolios in the range of one to 1.5 gigawatts. Voltalia, listed and based in Paris, also produces electricity from wind, hydropower, and biomass alongside its solar activities, while GenSun specialises in engineering, construction, and oversight of medium to large-scale photovoltaic power plants for corporations, communities, and investors. Qair France and SopraSolar round out this group with substantial commercial and industrial project pipelines.
Photosol, based in Paris since 2008, and Helexia, headquartered near Lille, have each built several hundred megawatts of installed capacity serving commercial and industrial clients. Mecojit, active mostly in the southwest of France since 2002, has completed more than 1,400 rooftop projects and manages the full cycle from development through construction and maintenance.
With France targeting continued growth in solar capacity through the 2030s, competition is expected to intensify between the largest utility-backed and EPC-style developers chasing utility-scale and agrivoltaic projects, and regional installers defending established commercial and residential client relationships. Consolidation activity among mid-sized regional players, alongside growing interest in agrivoltaics and floating solar, is a trend worth watching as the market matures.
