R.Power, one of Europe’s leading independent renewable energy producers and developers, has announced an ambitious strategic plan to expand its footprint in the Portuguese and Iberian Peninsula markets. The company aims to achieve a portfolio of 100 MWp in photovoltaic power plants in Portugal over the coming years, while also increasing investments in Spain and energy storage technologies (BESS).
Currently, R.Power manages approximately 50 MWp in Portugal, spread across eight photovoltaic plants in locations such as Terena, Sertã, Mosteiros, and Tremês. These facilities generate approximately 100 GWh of renewable energy annually, supplying electricity to thousands of households. By the end of the first quarter of 2025, R.Power plans to bring new projects in Lagos and Portimão into operation, adding an additional 10 MWp of capacity and increasing energy production by 20 GWh annually.
According to Przemek Pieta, co-founder and CEO of R.Power, “Portugal is one of the key markets in our development strategy. We are committed to achieving our goal of building a total capacity of 100 MWp in this region, further solidifying our position as the largest Polish investor in the renewable energy sector in Europe.”
In 2025, the company will also initiate construction of three new projects in Paião, Feira, and Trancoso, with a combined capacity of 43 MWp, enabling the generation of an additional 80 GWh annually. Furthermore, R.Power plans to make significant advancements in energy storage technologies and is developing plans for wind assets, targeting 25 MW of wind capacity in the coming years.
In Spain, R.Power will begin constructing photovoltaic projects with a capacity of 23 MWp, which are expected to produce over 45 GWh annually.
