WPD has strengthened its position in the French renewable energy sector by acquiring a substantial share of Calycé’s wind energy business. This strategic transaction includes a portfolio of 17 onshore wind projects and the integration of Calycé’s specialist teams into WPD’s operations. In parallel, WPD, which built its first French wind farms in the Meuse region in 2007, has continually expanded its portfolio in France. The company now operates multiple offices, including recent openings in Reims, Troyes, and Nancy, supporting over 200 employees in its French wind and solar divisions. Both companies emphasized the cultural and strategic alignment that underpinned the transaction, aiming for continuity in local engagement and sustainable project development. WPD’s acquisition reflects its sustained confidence in the French onshore wind market and its broader renewable energy strategy, which now spans operations in 33 countries with 6,970 MW of installed capacity and a project pipeline of nearly 39 GW globally.
