In this article series we are introducing our readers to leading battery storage developers in Europe. In this article we asked BELECTRIC, a renewable developer with Kolitzheim headquarters, three exciting questions about their storage projects.
Can you describe your company and what role the development of storage systems plays in BELECTRIC?
BELECTRIC is one of Europe’s leading companies in the development and construction of groundmounted solar power plants. To date, BELECTRIC has installed more than 480 PV systems with a total output of more than 4.4 GW worldwide.
Around the world, hybrid systems are the key to a cost-efficient, stable and sustainable energy
supply. They enable a grid-compatible realisation of the energy transition. That is why BELECTRIC
does not only support their customers in the field of photovoltaics, but also as a general contractor in
the engineering and purchasing of battery storage solutions.
BELECTRIC takes care of the integration of different storage solutions into the overall hybrid system.
The PV know-how of the company feeds into all sub-areas of the integration, from construction to
grid connection.
In which markets do you plan to operate your storage projects (day-ahead, intraday, frequency/services etc.)?
Projects can be designed to operate in a range of services from fast response ancillary services
through to capacity market and wholesale trading. Most of the projects will be designed with
flexibility in mind to offer as wide a range of services as possible which allows future proofing against
market developments that favour a certain service.
About which projects are you currently most excited?
BELECTRIC are particularly excited about co-located Battery Storage, which is located with another
renewable energy generating source. Co-location can address several of the challenges of renewables
including intermittency and maximising usage of a grid connection. With the extensive history of
delivering both solar PV and Battery Storage projects, BELECTRIC has all the expertise required to
deliver high quality co-located projects.
