Renewable energy plays a huge role in Italy’s energy sector – over a third of produced electricity in Italy comes from sustainable energy sources. The largest green energy source is hydroelectric power, followed by energy from solar parks, bioenergy plants, wind parks and geothermal plants. The renewable energy plants not only have to be financed, developed and built, they also have to be operated and maintained.
