List of 3 solar park developers in Florida

Solar developer in Florida

This article is based on our list of the 300 largest solar energy developers in the USA which contains general contact details, company details as well as information about development focus. The list also holds personal contact information.

Called the Sunshine State for a reason, Florida is an ideal location for solar development thanks to its 2900 average annual sunlight hours with an average of 5.67 peak sun hours daily. While Florida has little to no potential for conventional wind energy, solar energy is an abundant and profitable energy resource for the state. Estimates have placed the state’s renewable energy potential, with most being from photovoltaic, to be able to produce an amount that would be more than enough to cover the state’s total electricity consumption.

1) Duke Energy (North Carolina, US)

Duke Energy is an energy company that supplies electric power in seven states of the United States, as well as in Canada. Duke Energy Florida completed two facilities in Florida in 2020, the Columbia solar plant with a capacity of 74.9MW in Columbia County and the DeBary solar power plant with a capacity of 74.5MW in Volusia County.

The latest three projects were completed at the end of 2021: three solar power plants in Florida with a total capacity of 232MW. The company invested about one billion dollars to develop a total capacity of 700MW solar energy facilities in Florida in the years from 2018 until 2022. Still, it plans to reach a total capacity of 1700 MW solar generated in the state in the next 10 years.

2) RAI Energy International (California, US)

RAI Energy International is a global energy development company headquartered in Silicon Valley that specializes in solar, wind and energy storage. With over 75 years of experience in the industry, the company is developing solar projects in North America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

In North America, RAI is developing solar distributed generation projects with a total capacity of almost 13,000 kWdc. The company is the co-developer of the HERO Solar Project with Hamilton Energy Resource Opportunities. The project which is located in Hamilton County in Florida has a capacity of 69MW and is operational since 2019.

3) Florida Power & Light Corporation (Florida, US)

Florida Power & Light Corporation is an American energy company that was founded in 1925 as a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc. Nowadays, it supplies around 4.5 million Florida residents with energy. The company plans to not only reduce, but to eliminate carbon emissions by 2045.

The company has developed many solar projects in Florida. Most notably, the company built the state’s largest solar project: The Next Generation Solar Energy Center is a 1150 MW plant, located in western Martin County in Florida.
