The renewable energy sources used in Japan range from hydropower, wind and solar energy as well as geothermal and biomass. With the reputation of being among the most technically-advanced and innovative countries in the world, the country has set ambitious policies and goals in order to achieve net-zero society and carbon neutrality by 2050. 1. Japan Renewable Energy Corporation – Tokyo based renewable energy developer participates in the UN Global Compact

The Japan Renewable Energy Corporation was founded in 2012 and is active in the renewable energy industry by developing wind, solar, biomass and other natural energy-based power generation. As first renewable energy single-business firm in Japan to participate in The United Nations Global Compact, the Tokyo headquartered firm strives to establish renewable energy as Japan’s main source of power by collaborating with local communities and contributing to environmental protection and revitalizing local economies and societies.

2. WPD – specialist in the field of wind energy projects

As the Asia market is growing in importance, wpd has expanded with eight offices – based in Taiwan, Kora, Japan, Vietnam Magnolia, India, on the Philippines and in Indonesia. In the Asia Pacific Region, wpd is currently running onshore projects with a total capacity of 422.9 MW, solar projects with a volume of 7.92 MW and a pipeline of 530MW onshore wind projects as well as 3790 MW offshore wind energy projects. 

3. Hinode Energy – development of large-scale solar energy projects

The solar energy developer Hinode Energy is headquartered in Tokyo and realizes high quality and cost-effective solar energy projects. By being specialized in large-scale projects, Hinode Energy currently develops an initial 200 MW portfolio across various regions in Japan. With the goal to be a volume and quality benchmark company in the Japanese renewable energy sector, the 2021 founded company implements photovoltaic projects of maximum technical efficiency and high profitability.
