The Greek government has identified solar power as a key component of the country’s energy strategy, given the abundant sunshine that Greece enjoys. The Greek long, hot summers and rising energy costs show a considerable potential for solar energy. The following article presents three PV-Installers in Greece.

1. Engaia S.A., Thessaloniki

Based in Thessaloniki, the Greek PV-Installer Engaia operates as a significant player in the solar sector. The company was founded in 2007 and was responsible for the implementation of several of the inaugural photovoltaic electricity production stations in the country. Since its establishment Engaia has installed over 300 systems throughout Greece and also has an additional branch in Athens and a wide network of partners all over Greece. An example project is a ground-mounted PV-System in Thessaloniki for AMYDON Energy Community. The project has a total capacity of 9 MW and used JA Solar PV-Panels and Huawei inverters. Engaia is one of the large PV-Installers in Greece.

2. SolarWay, Messinia

SolarWay was established in 2009 and since offers services focused on the design, supply, construction, and maintenance of PV-System solutions. To date the company has successfully completed over 400 projects with currently over 13.5 MW of installed PV power. SolarWay is one of a small number of companies in Greece to have obtained the Installer of PVTRIN Photovoltaic Systems Certification at an advanced level. This was achieved through the “Intelligent Energy for Europe” program of the European Commission. This year the company installed one of the first Enphase PV-Systems in Greece, in Verga Kalamata.

3. BigSolar S.A., Athens

BigSolar is a market leader in the wholesale distribution of fundamental photovoltaic equipment in Greece and Cyprus. The company was established in 2009 and has an overall installed capacity of over 800 MW in all regions of the country. BigSolar offers rooftop and ground mounted systems working with brands such as Huawei, SolarEdge, Solis, Sungrow, JASolar, and many more.
