France is, as are most European countries, striving to fullfill their goals in the energy change. With low reserves of oil or gas, the country is dependent on other sources of energy. In the last years more and more attention was given to renewable energy sources such as solar or wind energy, leading to an upspike in interested ivnestors. French investors are mainly active in the traditional fields of solar and wind energy and often globally active. 1. ENGIE S.A. (Paris)

Engie S.A. is one of europes biggest electric utility company and one of the few which operate both so called upstream (meaning e.g. purchasing or mantaining) as well as downstream (e.g. waste management) activities. The in Le Défense headquarterd firm calls itself “an energy transition leader” and therefore is active in all sorts of renewable energy activites, one being the investment in diverse renewable energy assets.

2. Sonnedix Power Holdings Limited (Saint Grégoire)

Founded in 2009 Sonnedix Power Holdings Limited the Saint Grégorie based investor has now an impressive solar portfolio, with over 880MW installed capacity in Europe allone, Sonnedix is also active in other internationally important regions such as Chile or Japan. The Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) also offer PPAs and brings together relevant players in the renewables industry.

3. Cap Vert Energie (Marseille)

Cap Vert Energie is a classical all rounder – the Marseille based company develops, finances, builds and manages the following renewable energy assets: solar energy (specifically photovoltaic), Biogas and hydropower. The French renewable player is present in France, Chile, the United States and Africa and currently has 208 solar parks in operation.
