Founded in 2009, Sonnedix Power Holdings is a leading solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) that is active on a global scale. The French company develops, builds, owns and operates solar power plants mainly across OECD countries. Sonnedix has a capacity of more than 9.4GW of PV plants in operation, construction and development. Of these 9.4GW, 1.32GW of capacity are in Spain, coming from over 185 solar projects. Overall, Sonnedix ranks as the sixth largest solar PV portfolio in Europe. The company is majority owned by institutional investors that are advised by J P Morgan Asset Management.
French renewable energy producer Sonnedix signed a 10-year power purchase agreement for a Spanish solar portfolio with Equinix. The agreement covers a portfolio of three solar plants in Cuenca, in the region of Castilla-La Mancha, with a combined capacity of 150MWp. Sonnedix expects the solar plants to be operational by the end of 2024.
Sonnedix has made its debut in Portugal's renewable energy sector with the acquisition of a 49MW portfolio of solar farms. This significant acquisition from Cubico Sustainable Investments includes four photovoltaic projects, all already operational since between 2012 and 2014. The projects are located in southern Portugal's Evora, Setubal, and Faro regions.
