Besides landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge or the famous Silicon Valley, California is especially known for its sunny weather. And the people of America also know very well how to use the power of the sun – the oldest solar power plant in the world with 354 MW is located in California. But it’s not just the power of the sun that is being harnessed to generate renewable energy; other sustainable methods of energy generation, such as onshore wind turbines, are also being implemented in California. In this article, three renewable energy developers headquartered in California will be presented.
1) Orion Renewable Energy Group
The Oakland based renewable energy developer with regional focus on North Carolina already realized projects with a total capacity of over 6000MW. Considering themselves as pioneers in the renewable power generation, the company consisting of resource specialists, engineers and developers strives to accelerate the energy transition. By working with local communities, the 1998 founded renewable energy group aims to optimize not only their own business but also create opportunities and jobs for the landowners and regional businesses.
2) Absolutely Solar
Having their headquarter in Los Angeles, the renewable energy developer focuses on realizing solar project. By gathering knowledge and experience about the development of renewable energy projects, Absolutely Solar was able to implement ground-mounted photovoltaic solar energy systems around Los Angeles and the greater Southern California area. Furthermore, the renewable energy company is currently taking place in a program launched by the city of Los Angeles, which is creating the opportunity for building owners to lease empty rooftops to Absolutely Solar and therefore generate an additional revenue stream.
3) Sempra U.S. Gas & Power
The stock-listed renewable energy developer (NYSE: SRE) with base in San Diego is implementing solar farms, onshore wind parks and energy storage projects in the area of North America and Mexico. By promoting energy diversification and renewable energy services, they generated a revenue of €10,829 million. Being aware of their responsibilities as energy supplier, Sempra U.S. Gas & Power strives to lead the global energy transition by taking on the though challenge of proving responsible energy solutions including natural gas distribution as well as wind and solar power generation.
