Since their foundation in 1996, ABO Wind have developed renewable energy projects with an installed capacity of over 3700MW. The developer opts for a hands-on approach, as they are also responsible for the construction for half of these projects. ABO Wind strive not only for economic success but also for ecological benefit in order to fulfill their goal of global climate protection.
The European renewable energy developer has projects spanning across four continents. Their current portfolio contains wind, solar and biogas projects. ABO Wind are currently ramping up their renewable energy output with over 16 projects under development. These projects amass a total capacity of 15GW. Their main focus is the development of wind based projects, accounting for two thirds of the projects currently under development. Since 2017 alone, ABO Wind have doubled the number of projects under development with thanks to large scale projects in South Africa and Argentina. The company has years of experience in the renewable energy sector to call upon and can offer expertise at all stages of project development.
In March 2022, Statkraft and ABO Wind announced the 10 year PPA for an 87MW wind farm located in Pajuperankangas. This deal represents the largest construction project ABO Wind has undertaken from planning to turnkey. The project will consist of 14 Vesta V162 turbines with a hub height of 169 meters. Construction is due to begin in Q3 of this year, with a view to becoming operational by autumn 2023. The project will be the fourth the company has built in the Haapajarvi region this year. The wind farm will be able to supply electricity to over 80,500 houses and is a cornerstone in Finland's goal to accelerate renewable energy production.
