What’s the focus of Avangrid?

Avangrid is a leading sustainable energy company headquartered in Orange, Connecticut, with operations in 24 U.S. states. The company operates through two main divisions: Avangrid Networks and Avangrid Renewables. Avangrid Networks manages eight electric and natural gas utilities in New York and New England, while Avangrid Renewables oversees a range of renewable energy generation facilities across the country. This includes solar, as well as onshore and offshore wind facilities. In 2022, the company ranked second in the utility sector for its commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. Large-scale offshore wind projects off the coast of Massachusetts

The US government has approved Avangrid's New England Wind project, allowing for the installation of 129 turbines off the coast of Massachusetts. The offshore wind project is expected to generate 2.6 GW of electricity. It will be positioned approximately 20 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and about 24 nautical miles southwest of Nantucket. Connecticut-based Avangrid anticipates the initiative to provide enough power for over 900,000 homes.
