What’s the focus of Energiekontor AG?

Since their inception in 1990, Energiekontor have become a leading German developer of offshore and onshore wind and solar energy. The company was originally founded to develop wind projects. Since 2010, they have also expanded to include solar energy. The Bremen-based developers have been responsible for the completion of 130 wind farms and 12 solar parks which have a total installed capacity of 1GW.

Energiekontor hopes to be among the leaders in driving a change towards a world where energy is supplied 100% from renewable sources. They also hope to develop the first wind or solar project that has a lower levelized cost of energy than conventional energy. The German company has eyes on future international expansion into French and American markets, with future solar projects in the pipeline.

Pines Burns wind farm in Hawick sold to Capital Dynamics

In April 2022, Energiekontor completed the sale of the 34MW wind project located in the Scottish Borders. The site is ready for construction and will be commercially operational by the second half of 2023. Pines Burns represents the third wind farm Energiekontor has sold to Capital Dynamics, following the Longhill and Sorbie projects in 2021. Capital Dynamics are an independent global asset management firm, with a focus on clean energy. The 100MW pipeline that Energiekontor have been able to sell represents a cornerstone in Scotland’s aim to achieve ‘net zero’ by 2045.
