Sustainable energy giants Engie are world renown for their work in wind, solar, biomass and hydroelectric energy sources. In 2021 alone, Engie commissioned 3GW of renewable energy and in total boast an installed capacity of 34GW. Further accelerations in the production of renewable energy is in the pipeline as Engie aims to have a capacity of 80GW by 2030. This goal is fundamental in order to complete their net zero carbon mission by 2045.
The French energy providers account for 25% of the country’s hydropower and have projects in 8 other countries which result in an overall capacity of more than 20GW. Engie’s current strategy relies on their four core activities: renewable energy, energy solutions, networks and thermal energy production to strive towards a cleaner future. Their current focus also lies on the development of renewable hydrogen production, planning for a production capacity of 4GW by 2030.
In April 2022, Engie North America confirmed the equity financing of three wind projects which have a total capacity of 665MW. All three wind farms were developed in 2021 and 2022, the wind powered energy will be sold to previously agreed PPAs.
