In 2021, the Danish renewables developer began the construction of over 1GW of renewable projects across 23 countries. They hope to increase that output, with over 1.5GW of new projects due to be constructed in 2022.
The Danish developer’s current pipeline portfolio is at over 34.3GW, placing it amongst the leading developers of renewable energy in Europe. European Energy aims to broaden their portfolio with the acquisition of e-methanol company REIntegrate, with an aim to produce e-methanol by 2023.
In January 2022, the Danish renewables developer confirmed the sale of the Troia Solar park to Iren Energia. The solar park consists of over 275,00 solar panels and has a total installed capacity of 103MW. The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of Q1, with a value of €166m. The Danish group will also sell their Palo solar plant, with a capacity of 18.5MW bringing the total capacity to 121.5MW. European Energy aims to maintain their presence in Italy, with a project pipeline of over 2GW and will invest over €800m over the next four years.
The North American division of Danish developer European Energy purchased a majority interest in a 700MW solar portfolio in Colorado. The portfolio comprises two projects, named Sandy Hill and Sand Dune, with a combined capacity of 700MW. They will be realized by European Energy North America and Horus. The projects are planned to start construction in 2025. This supports European Energy’s ambition to develop 10 GW of renewable energy projects in the US by the year 2026.
