Development of largest battery energy storage system in Japan
Singapore-based Gurin Energy Pte Ltd has revealed plans to construct and manage a 500MW/2GWh battery in Japan, marking its debut in the Asian country's energy storage sector. This battery energy storage system (BESS) will be Japan's largest, offering four hours of discharge capacity. The estimated investment for the project is approximately JPY 91 billion (EUR 577.7m), with construction expected to span six years, starting in 2026.
