Since their establishment in 2014, Highfield Energy has built an impressive portfolio of over 1GW of solar, wind and battery projects. The Irish renewable developer is responsible for the construction, operation and management of their projects in order to maximize energy outputs. With nearly 10 years of market experience, Highfield have developed partnerships with world-renowned solar and wind developers such as ib vogt and Aura Power. Highfield retains a strong national presence, with numerous projects located across the Emerald Isle.
In July 2021, Highfield Energy announced their partnership with ib vogt and UK company Aura power to finance a €160m solar project. The investment will be used to provide a financing debt facility for the two projects with a total installed of 242MW. The 140-hectare site in Foulksmills, Wexford will be used for a 141MW solar plant. Whereas, the 123-hectare Meath site will be used for a 141MW solar farm. The Irish solar group can call on the expertise of ib vogt to provide technical engineering support, as the projects will use the latest bifacial solar technology. The projects represent a cornerstone in Ireland’s 70% renewable electricity target by 2030 and were secured from the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme 1 (RESS1) ran in 2020. The Meath and Wexford site represents over 25% of the total RESS1 solar volume.
