KlimaVest is a Luxemburg-based Impact fond which is managed by the German asset manager Commerz Real AG. The fund invests private investors' assets in renewable energy projects - supported by Commerz Real AG, the fund builds on years of experience. Commerz Real has over 20 years of experience concerning investments in grid-connected infrastructure as well as power generation (among others).
KlimaVest is specialized in solar and wind energy projects in Europe. At the moment, the renewable energy projects are based in Germany, France, Spain and Scandinavia. The power of most projects is sold through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), for example with Google.
KlimaVest is one of the first European investors who financed so-called "Agrivoltaic" projects - projects where agriculture is combined with renewable energy plants. Recently the fond has financed a project by Elysium Solar - the 50MW project based near Berlin is expected to be operational in 2025. The multi-purpose use of land through a combination of agriculture and renewable energy is promoting both the energy transition and biodiversity.
The KlimaVest impact fund - managed by German asset manager Commerz Real AG - has purchased a new wind farm in Finland from Energiequelle. Located in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa region in western Finland, the asset has a capacity of 39.9MW and is connected to the power grid since 2022.
Commerz Real has acquired another wind farm with a capacity of 46MW in Finland from Energiequelle. As part of its Klimavest fund, Commerz Real has added the Lumivaara wind farm to its portfolio, which now boasts several facilities with a combined capacity of 170MW. Situated in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi, within the Kainuu region, the Lumivaara wind farm is located approximately 560 kilometres north of Helsinki. Nordex is currently responsible for the ongoing full maintenance of the wind farm, while Energiequelle oversees its technical and commercial management.
