Lightsource bp is considered as pioneer in the development of solar energy parks. By realizing such projects worldwide, the London based developer could expand their portfolio to 14 different countries with a total capacity of 3 GW. Furthermore, Lightsource BP developed as global project a 16 GW pipeline. With a team of over 500 employees, the developer of solar energy farms wants to convert the energy supply by creating a more sustainable implementation of energy generation.
Based on their already gained experience in the renewable energy sector, Lightsource bp is striving to drive the energy transition further forward. In order to reach this goal, the developer realized many solar farms not only in Europe but also in the US. In collaboration with different energy partners, Lightsource bp ensures the development of renewable energy projects and contributes their part of decarbonizing the world’s energy landscape.
UK-based renewable energy developer signed a power purchase agreement with beverages company Lion for its 176-MW Woolooga Solar Farm in Queensland. The PPA covers the entire generation of the Woolooga Solar Farm which had started construction in July 2021. Thanks to it, the Australia-based brewery XXXX will be completely supplied by renewables.
Starting in 2026, Lightsource BP entered a 149MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with LyondellBasell, a chemical manufacturer. This agreement comprises Lightsource supplying approximately 284,000 megawatt-hours of solar power from one of its projects in Spain to LyondellBasell. This move is part of Lightsource bp's growing presence in Spain, as it continues to supply solar energy to LyondellBasell from the region.
