Established in 2008, Neoen has become one of the leading European developers of renewable energy. The Parisian-based group has developed over 5.4GW of solar, wind and battery energy from projects located in Australia, France, Mexico, Portugal, Mozambique, and El Salvador. Neoen aims to accelerate their current portfolio which is spread across 16 countries by achieving their 10GW target by 2025.
Neoen were responsible for the development of France’s largest solar plant located in Cestas which has an installed capacity of 300MW. They also developed the largest ‘big battery’ project in Hornsdale, Australia with an installed capacity of 150MW. Neoen’s 5GW portfolio is comprised of 2.6GW of solar, 1.5GW of wind, and 716MW of battery storage.
In January 2022, the Parisian-based group announced the acquisition of a 412MW wind farm. The project known as Goyder South Stage 1, will consist of 75 GE 5.5-158 Cypress turbines and will be linked to ElectraNet’s grid via a new connection. Goyder South Stage 1 is the first of the large-scale Goyder South project which is located in Burra, South Australia, and will contain wind, solar, and storage projects. The project will have 1.2GW of wind, 600MW of solar, and 900MW of battery storage making it the largest green energy project in the State.
In late 2022, Neoen started construction of a 272MW solar park, including two solar farms: The 68MW Torre Bela Solar Farm is 100% owned by Neoen and the 204MW Rio Maior Solar Farm is owned in a partnership with Aura Power. Located in the municipality of Azambuja in Portugal, the facility is one of the country’s largest solar parks. Commissioning of the solar park is expected in early 2024.
In December 2023, Neoen started constructing its first three solar plants in Italy. Located in Lombardy and Marche, the three solar plants have a combined capacity of 24,7MWp. They are expected to become operational in early 2025.
