Founded in 2007, Next Energy Capital have become specialists in investments in utility-scale solar projects. Their portfolio consists of listed and private ESG funds, their listed stock NextEnergy Solar Fund Limited (NESF) owns solar projects in UK and Italy. NESF has a total installed capacity of 895MW, consisting of 99 solar projects.
Since its IPO in 2014, the fund has invested £1087m in solar projects including a £100m collaboration with Eelpower. The private funds, named NextPower I, II and III ESG contain diversified solar portfolios. NextPower II has a solar project portfolio of 98 solar plants and is amongst the ten largest solar asset owners in Italy. Overall, the London-based solar investment group has 1.4GW of installed capacity.
Next Energy Capital have announced that their solar fund has exceeded their $750m target for the private investment fund, NextPower III ESG. The €896m investment will make the NPIII ESG Next Energy Capital’s largest private solar fund. The solar fund will undergo a significant increase in solar development, with a project portfolio of between 2GW and 2.5GW once all capital is invested. The projects will be located in OECD countries such as Spain, US, Portugal and Chile.
The private investment fund NextPower III ESG of the UK company acquired two solar projects in the United States. Located in Florida, each of the solar projects has a capacity of 100MW. With this acquisition, the investment group has more than doubled its US portfolio capacity from 197MW to 397MW, raising its total portfolio to over 1GW.
