TotalEnergies is a French multi-energy company that supplies energies on a global scale. This ranges from oil and biofuel, natural gas and green gas to renewables. The company‘s strategy is to continue providing the energy the world needs at the current time, f.e. natural gas to replace coal, while simultaneously accelerating the transition to renewable energy solutions. Within renewables, the company focuses on solar and wind energy.
The company‘s ambition is to be one of the world’s top five providers of wind and solar energy by the year 2030. It wants to have reached a gross capacity of 100 GW by then. By 2025, TotalEnergies wants to reach a capacity of 35 GW.
Paris-based TotalEnergies signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for its 1GW Mirny wind project located in Kazakhstan. The onshore wind project will also comprise a 600MWh battery. All of the project’s electricity will be sold to the government-owned Financial Settlement Centre of Renewable Energy (FSC) for injection into the grid. TotalEnergies is developing the 1GW wind project together with Samruk-Kazyna and KazMunayGas, which will each hold 20% of the share.
