Ranked as the first place in installed wind power capacity as well as production in 2021, Germany is a country where wind power is an important and growing source of energy. It comes to no surprise that the following three countries which are located in Germany own large wind energy portfolios. This article is based on our top 50 database of the largest renewable energy investors from Germany.

1) Prime Capital (Frankfurt)

Founded in 2006, Prime Capital is a leading alternative asset management firm that is focusing on institutional clients and manages over €4.3 billion of assets. The firm specializes in alternative investments, infrastructure investments and private debt and has its offices in Frankfurt, Luxembourg and London. Its Prime Green Energy Infrastructure Fund invests into utility-scale wind energy and has an impressive track record of over 2,000 MW in onshore wind.

2) Aquila Capital (Hamburg)

Headquartered in Hamburg, Aquila Capital is an investment management company which focuses on sustainable investments, and real estate. Founded in 2001, the company manages over €12.5 billion for its institutional investors and is counted as one of Europe’s leading investment firms in clean energy. It has 603 wind energy assets in its portfolio with a total capacity of 3,537 MW.

3) ENOVA Energieanlagen GmbH & Co. KG (Bunde)

Besides developing and managing wind energy assets, Bunde-based ENOVA uses the experience it has earned from over 30 years in the wind industry to invest in a profitable way into wind energy. It has a total capacity of 250MW onshore wind installed and 1500MW of offshore wind approved and plans on continually expanding its wind energy portfolio through the acquisition of older and new wind parks as well as through the development of new projects.
