What’s the focus of Cordelio Power?
Cordelio oversees a renewable power generation portfolio exceeding 1,000 MW. This includes a 396 MW collection of wind and solar projects in Ontario, and a 656 MW wind and solar portfolio, owned by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). Additionally, Cordelio is actively expanding its development asset pipeline, recently acquiring a 350 MW wind asset. Moreover, the company is active in the energy storage sector. Operating from Toronto, Ontario, Cordelio, the company is wholly owned by CPP Investments.
Joint partnership with BrightNight for renewable projects in the US
Canadian Cordelio Power aims to expand its partnership with US developer BrightNight. Cordelio will finance and later own the projects, while BrightNight leads developments. Their joint portfolio of 30 projects has over 18 GW of capacity across nine U.S. states. One example is the 300MW solar and storage project ‘Box Canyon’ in Pinal County, Arizona. Established in late 2020 with 4.5 GW of projects including energy storage, the partnership initially targeted a 50% growth.
