Netherlands-based Ingka Group, the investment arm of IKEA, owns and manages 575 wind turbines in 17 countries, 20 solar parks and 935,000 solar panels on the roofs of IKEA stores and warehouses. The company has already invested €2.9 billion into wind and solar energy projects since 2009. This allows Ingka Group to generate more renewable energy than it consumes.
The Netherlands-based investor Ingka Group purchased a ready-to-build wind farm and solar park in Poland for €190 million. The agreement was signed with the Sweden-based renewable energy developer OX2. Both projects have a combined capacity of 92MW and are expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Leiden-based IKEA owner Ingka Group will acquire a 49% interest in three Finnish offshore wind projects from OX2. Located in the Gulf of Bothnia, the three projects Halla, Laine and Tyrsky could reach a total installed capacity of up to 6GW. The first two projects will possibly become operational by 2030.
