Founded in 2004, OX2’s focus has solely been placed on developing a fully sustainable energy supply to customers. With 18 years of experience to call upon, OX2 have become specialists in the financing, construction and management of renewable energy projects, including large-scale solar and wind projects. Since their inception, the European developer has developed and sold over 3.2GW of wind powered energy. Their expertise can be recognised in several high-profile projects such as their PPA project with google and the development of their first subsidy free wind farm. The Swedish developer operates several renewable energy projects in Europe including Finland and Poland.
OX2 pride themselves on their meticulous approach to project development to maintain high ecological standards and build positive relationships with local communities. Their belief is that a net zero carbon future depends on the interaction between people, the environment and the market which they term: People – Planet – Profit. In order to reach this goal the company have increased their renewable energy output, with 1,329MW of wind powered energy under construction in Q4 of 2021 alone.
In March 2022, OX2 confirmed the purchase of solar and wind projects located across various regions in Greece. The development projects will provide a total capacity of over 500MW. OX2 will work closely with local authorities in order to maximise the output to contribute to Greece’s goal to expand solar and wind output by 5GW and 3GW respectively. Greece is an attractive destination for renewable projects as 20% of the country’s electricity is imported and 15TWh of lignite will be replaced by 2028. Therefore, this presents an exciting opportunity for OX2 to provide their expertise to accelerate the country’s transition to a green future.
OX2 and Ingka Investments have partnered with Ellevio, a Swedish electric power distribution company, for the Galene offshore wind farm in Sweden. The 400 MW Galene, part of the 1.7 GW Galatea-Galene project, will be located 21 kilometers west of Varberg. With permits secured and government approval in place, OX2 is now collaborating with Ellevio to leverage their respective expertise in wind project development and electricity network ownership for the project's successful implementation.
