The renewable focus of the Madrid-based company is on offshore and onshore wind, PV solar, hydropower and geothermal energy. Repsol owns 12 hydropower plants, two combined gas cycles, and a wind farm, and has another two wind and three solar sites in development. The company’s total installed capacity is 3,870MW with a pipeline of 6GW until 2025 and 20GW until 2030. Locally, their renewable activity is focused on the United States and Chile.
The 1987 founded Repsol S.A. is a global player in the field of energy providers. With a number of employees over 25.000 and boast assets across 31 countries, the Madrid based developer takes a significant part in the market of electricity and gas. Based on their accepted responsibility, Repsol S.A. drives the transition of the energy supply toward a low-emissions mode. Thus, the developer refocused the strategy and expands to the sector of renewable energy.

Madrid-based Repsol acquired 250MW of wind and solar assets from German developer ABO Wind. The deal includes three wind farms with a total capacity of 150MW as well as two PV solar projects with a total capacity of 100MW. Located in the province of Palencia in Spain, the projects are expected to become operational between 2024 and 2025. With this acquisition, Repsol now has 3.2GW of Spanish projects in operation or development.
In the beginning of 2024, Repsol has begun producing electricity at Sigma, its first renewable project in Andalusia. Located in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), Sigma consists of five solar plants with a total installed capacity of 204 MW. The project involved an investment of nearly 150 million euros, has created over 500 jobs during construction and will provide electricity for around 43,000 households.
