List of 5 large PV-installers in France [2024]

Renewable energies are becoming increasingly relevant for both the use in industry and private households. Solar energy in particular is at the forefront of sustainable power generation technologies. Electricity from PV systems still accounts for 15% of the energy mix in France, but like everywhere else in Europe, this trend is on the rise. Accordingly, there is a need not only for technology providers who develop and improve solar panels, but also for experts who take care of the installation of new systems, both for individuals, communities and for the industry. The following article presents 5 of the largest PV installers in France.

1. Engie SA (La Défence)

Engie is one of the largest and most well-known renewable energy companies in France and worldwide. From their headquarters in La Défence, the energy giant operates globally and so has worked on projects in various renewable energy sources. In addition to its expertise in many energy sectors, Engie has a high level of expertise in PV installations. The company focuses on large-scale installations.

2. EDF Renewables (Paris)

EDF Renewables is also a very well-known company – since their founding in 1990, EDF has installed over 13GW of renewable energy projects worldwide. With their headquarter in Paris, the company sits at the centre of their homecountry and is a staple in the French energy sector. As does Engie, EDF focuses on large-scale projects all over France/Europe and all over the world.

3. Groupe Valeco (Montpellier)

Groupe Valeco was founded in 1995 and since has evolved as one of the largest renewable energy players in France. As of 2020, the company has over 845MW of capacity in operation, generated by 42 solar plants and 239 wind parks. This already shows that although the energy company has other expertise in addition to solar energy, it is very advanced in this area. For example, in addition to large-scale solar parks, Valeco also offers the installation of agricultural photovoltaics.

4. France Solar (Brumath)

While France Solar is also a large and well-known French PV-installer, the company also offers small-scale solar installations and is thus certified by RGE. The company was founded in 2009 and offers thei installation services in Strasbourg, Lille, Reims, Rouen, Orléans, Rennes, Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saône. In addition to installations for individual households, France Solar also offers installations for farmers, communities and industry.

5. Orion Energies (Paris)
