Wind energy is one of the most important renewable energy sources worldwide and also in Europe. The engineering, procurement and design (EPC) of wind farms is therefore an essential part in fighting climate change. EPC companies oversee and are involved in various different aspects of a projects lifecycle, thereby having a unique expertise in their respective asset focus. This article presents three important wind park EPC companies based and operating in Europe.

1) CJR Renewables (Matosinhos, Portugal)

The portuguese CJR Renewables is a global service provider for renewable energy sources, mainly focusing on wind farms and solar plants. CJR Renewables has been active since the 70s, in 2002 the service provider entered the wind energy business by starting construction on a wind farm in Portugal. As of now, the company has over 12GW of installed projects in more than 25 countries.

Update 2024: CJR Renewables recently finalized a deal with GE Vernova, securing turbines with a combined capacity of 170MW. These turbines are slated for installation in projects located in both Germany and Spain. This collaboration marks nearly a decade of partnership, during which CJR Renewables has successfully installed close to 1000MW of capacity.

2) SOWITEC Group GmbH (Sonnenbühl, Germany)

Sowitec Group is a German renewable energy company based in Sonnenbühl. The company was founded in 1993 and since has developed a portfolio of nearly 4GW of installed capacity. The service provider offers a variety of EPC services, starting with grid connection planning or quality assurance. Moreover, Sowitec is also a project developer and has established close partnerships with renewable energy investors.

3) TM Service Oy (Ylivieska, Finland)

TM Service Oy is a Finnish renewable energy company providing services for wind power, solar power and electricity grid projects. The company focuses on wind energy and solar projects in their homecountry Finnland and is involved all over the value chain, starting with project development, over finance, planning, procurement and construction and finally also the production phase.
